I finally managed (or forced myself) to launch my website. It is still work in progress and I have to overthink the structure (especially the distinction between blog and portfolio) as well as the design, but for a start (and the first contact with html for a long time) I think it’s quite acceptable.
As you can see I used the Yanone Kaffeesatz for the menu (and it’s not pictures!). I read up on the (relatively) new webfonts and really like the idea. It’s time to leave the handful of webfonts behind and spice the internet up!
If you are interested: Google offers some free fonts as webfonts (home of my Yanone Kaffeesatz) and webfonts.com provides about 3000 free webfonts, but some are really shitty and don’t look good on the screen especially in smale sizes (that’s why I still use Georgia for the text).
I think in general it’s a great opportunity especially for us designers and it would indeed be nice to see more different typefaces on the web.
