Music posters

Posters I did during my exchange semester at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw for two of my favorite musicians, James Blake and Pantha du Prince. The professor didn’t like them. I tried to catch the atmosphere created by these truely great artists.

Contemporary kitchen still life

No need for sumptuous oil paintings showing the delicious victuals we consume. Today our food is industrially portioned so that it perfectly fits in a picture frame by itself.

Kirschkind is online

I finally managed (or forced myself) to launch my website. It is still work in progress and I have to overthink the structure (especially the distinction between blog and portfolio) as well as the design, but for a start (and the first contact with html for a long time) I think it’s quite acceptable.

As you can see I used the Yanone Kaffeesatz for the menu (and it’s not pictures!). I read up on the (relatively) new webfonts and really like the idea. It’s time to leave the handful of webfonts behind and spice the internet up!
If you are interested: Google offers some free fonts as webfonts (home of my Yanone Kaffeesatz) and webfonts.com provides about 3000 free webfonts, but some are really shitty and don’t look good on the screen especially in smale sizes (that’s why I still use Georgia for the text).

I think in general it’s a great opportunity especially for us designers and it would indeed be nice to see more different typefaces on the web.

Daily Headline posters

Topic design

Topic business: DAX on the altitude flight

Topic news: Leaving without brilliance

Posters originated in a typography compact course lead by Nicolas Bourquin.
Each day we had to pick a headline from a different topic and design a poster with it.
(format 420 x 594 mm)

Elvis imitators

Video originated in a 3-day-workshop in November 2010 with Thomas Sabel about the topic authenticity. During my research I came across these videos of imitators. I was touched and impressed by the fervor irrespective of professionalism. I put imitators from all over the world, from karaoke singer to professional imitator, together in this video to show the different levels of authenticity and the one thing that unites them all: passion.
